Calvin Gutkin
Cal went through Medical School here in Winnipeg and graduated in 1969.
He has lived in Toronto since then has had many many recognized accomplishments in the Field of Family Medicine in Canada.
Cal retired in December of 2013 as “Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of The College Of Family Physicians of Canada”
I do believe he is the First Jewish Physician to ever hold this Office. He held this position for 17 years. Prior to that he was also Chief of Medical Staff of Credit Valley Hospital, head of Emergency, president of The Ontario Chapter of Family Physicians, and many other positions while he maintained a thriving medical practice for many years, before he took the position as CEO etc of The College of Family Physicians Canada.
In 2015 he was awarded the highest honour in Family Medicine when he was presented with The Victor Johnston Award for his contribution to Medicine in Canada.
Cal has also received The Queen’s Jubilee Medal for his work in Family Medicine in Canada. His many accomplishments really speak for themselves, but many people involved in this project, do know him and know of his work over the years.
